A deformable porous medium is one in which the solid skeleton deforms in response to the motion of the fluid(s). How can the "deformability" of a porous medium be defined and estimated? What are the key differences between a stiff (weakly deformable) porous medium and a soft (highly deformable) porous medium? Why are low-porosity media different?
